Why beginner’s mind?

There are literally, of course, already millions of blogs and thousands of them are about blogging.  Is there room for this one more.  I guess we will see.

There are a whole lot of incredibly talented and creative bloggers out there.  I cannot speak for them, but when I have done any thing that requires skill for a long period of time, I can begin to get just as rigid as anyone else.  Beginner’s mind is a constant reminder for me to stay loose, to keep my eyes open and to cultivate awareness constantly.

How did I get started at this?

Wow, how many times have you  read that?  Alsmost four years ago now (wow, I am even surprised it has been that long), I lost the visionn in my left eye over about a three day period.  Eerily, it began on Christmas Eve of 2005 when I was at Victoria’s Secret looking for a present for my sweetheart.  Okay mom, I know you told me about that stuff, but jeez, I’m a grown up.

Losing the sight in what was my good eye was no day at the beach, but that was the beginning.  Bear in mind, I’m not whining here, this is just the story.  The vision, along with some other chronic illness prompted the Evil Empire, where I happened to be working, to decide that was enough and they hit the lever on the trap door.

So, now what?  I was unemployed, in the middle of coaching school (with no resources to continue), and I had a limited amount of savings to live on.  And I was older than I would have chosen to be in a “start-over” position.
